LPWAN Technologies

LPWAN (Low-Power Wide Area Network) networks were designed to connect communicating objects, thus creating M2M/IoT (Machine to Machine / Internet of Things) networks. Sensors, communicating energy meters, and monitoring solutions that exchange very small volumes of data, require very low data rates, and consume very little power because they run on batteries are typical applications that can rely on LPWANs for their communications.

LPWAN technologies can be divided into two main categories: cellular networks based on 4G antennas, and non-cellular networks, among which we find the vast majority of technologies in the ISM band (868 MHz in Europe), but also on other frequency bands such as 169 MHz.
